    1. Report: When saving from ScienceDirect and hitting a captcha we show our viewer which allows the users to complete the captcha and then lets us fetch the PDF. About a month ago this broke most likely due to changes on CF side. In my testing you also get the same kind of captcha…

    2. @dstillman @yexingsha @AbeJellinek As I’m working on a dynamic dark mode for PDF view that supports custom background and foreground colors, automatically adjusts other colors for optimal contrast, and even works with scanned papers, I think this is a good chance to introduce…

    3. I now have a prototype of the reference popup that allows users to quickly view the abstract of an in-text citation, add the item to their library, or open it if it already exists. 1. Hover over an in-text citation to open a popup. 2. A list of raw reference texts is shown, with…

    4. It's hard to imagine that these huge field codes don't have a performance or reliability penalty, for very little gain. We already don't do this on Google Docs and have had almost no complaints. The very few annotated-bibliography styles (2 in the official repo?) will still work…

    13. Now that we (will) have plugins running in fully async data APIs in the sandbox, rendering based on data (items, etc) should also be async, ie. the item tree API dataProvider/renderCell call. We currently had workaround to try best providing data sync in the hook, but still it…

    15. Plugins that work with the PDF the user is reading need two things that are only reachable through private members today: 1. finding the open reader(s) of an attachment, and 2. the page the user is looking at right now. We ask for a small public API for both. SeekChat (a plugin…
