How do I install Joplin on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal, then open Joplin from your app menu:

sudo pacman -S joplin-desktop

joplin-desktop is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

Which way should you pick?

WayCommandPackage
CachyOS repo (cachyos) Recommended
sudo pacman -S joplin-desktop
joplin-desktop (CachyOS cachyos)
Other build
A note taking and to-do application with synchronization capabilities, CLI App.
sudo pacman -S joplin
joplin (CachyOS cachyos)

All of these are in the official cachyos repo. Pick one; builds of the same app usually conflict with each other.

What should I do after installing Joplin?

  1. Open Joplin from your app menu.
  2. Or run joplin-desktop in a terminal.
  3. Run pacman -Qi joplin-desktop to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove Joplin?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns joplin-desktop

    10. Currently we don't have any helper to edit tables in the Markdown editor, so we should add some so that it's as easy to use as in the Rich Text Editor. It needs to be built-in or via a default plugin.

    Joplin on CachyOS: questions

Is Joplin in the official CachyOS repo?

Yes. The joplin-desktop package is in the cachyos repo, version 3.7.18-1, built 2026-09-12. Install it with sudo pacman -S joplin-desktop.

Do I need an AUR helper for Joplin?

No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.

    What is the Joplin command?

joplin-desktop. The package is called joplin-desktop.

Which Joplin package should I pick?

joplin-desktop is listed first here. The cachyos repo also has joplin. Install only one of them.
