How do I install Zellij on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal, then open Zellij from your app menu:

sudo pacman -S zellij-git

zellij-git is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing Zellij?

  1. Open Zellij from your app menu.
  2. Or run zellij in a terminal.
  3. Run pacman -Qi zellij-git to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove Zellij?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns zellij-git

    Zellij on CachyOS: questions

    Is Zellij in the official CachyOS repo?

    Yes. The zellij-git package is in the cachyos repo, version 0.44.1.r56.g0871f5d-1, built 2026-07-13. Install it with sudo pacman -S zellij-git.

    Do I need an AUR helper for Zellij?

    No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.

    What is the Zellij command?

    zellij. The package is called zellij-git.
