How do I install Rare on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal, then open Rare from your app menu:

sudo pacman -S rare

rare is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing Rare?

  1. Open Rare from your app menu.
  2. Or run rare in a terminal.
  3. Run pacman -Qi rare to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove Rare?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns rare

    Rare on CachyOS: questions

    Is Rare in the official CachyOS repo?

    Yes. The rare package is in the cachyos repo, version 1.12.0.221-2, built 2026-08-26. Install it with sudo pacman -S rare.

    Do I need an AUR helper for Rare?

    No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.

    What is the Rare command?
