After updating from file version 5.47 to version 5.48 in patool tests newly report the MIME type of the test files t.tar.bz2 as application/x-bzip2 but for some reason expect application/x-tar, causing detection logic to fail. Other compression types are also reported as changed:…

I was getting the same error as #149 after a system update where p7zip was replaced with the upstream 7zip package on archlinux. After looking through the code a bit, I found that util.p7zipsupportsrar() was looking for rar codecs that it will not find on my system, preventing me…

Version: patool 3.1.0 Attempting to extract a zip file seems to incorrectly use p7zip's 7z executable. This results in a failure to properly extract. This does NOT happen if there are no valid 7z executables on the PATH, which leads me to believe there's a weird case where it's…

testzpaq() is basically the same a listzpaq() except the 't' (no verbose, no passwords) according to my testing "zpaqfranz" is used, even if a "zpaq" is installed in the same bin directory. but i'm not sure if this is just a coincidence.

patool extracts archives into a temporary directory (extractarchive) then optionally moves the result up one level (cleanupoutdir). This confines absolute-path attacks (backend tools strip leading /), but there is no central sanitization of ../ relative path components in archive…

The following script leads to duplicated log messages: Probably because the message is propagated to the root handler set up by logging.basicConfig. Maybe disable propagate? Or maybe no longer use a custom hander and let the root logger decide?
