How do I install MS Office Electron on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal, then open MS Office Electron from your app menu:

sudo pacman -S ms-office-electron-bin

ms-office-electron-bin is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing MS Office Electron?

  1. Open MS Office Electron from your app menu.
  2. Or run ms-office-electron in a terminal.
  3. Run pacman -Qi ms-office-electron-bin to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove MS Office Electron?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns ms-office-electron-bin

    Is MS Office Electron in the official CachyOS repo?

    Yes. The ms-office-electron-bin package is in the cachyos repo, version 0.7.3-1, built 2022-10-07. Install it with sudo pacman -S ms-office-electron-bin.

    Do I need an AUR helper for MS Office Electron?

    No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.
