How do I install Air on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal:

sudo pacman -S air

air is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing Air?

  1. Run air in a terminal.
  2. Run pacman -Qi air to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove Air?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns air

    1. Hey, We recently upgraded our project to 1.24.1 and now cannot use the cosmtrek/air image (built on 1.23) any more. Do you plan to publish a 1.24 based Docker image any time soon? I found this PR to do exactly that, though: Thank you 😄

    2. This feature request proposes adding support to Air for running multiple Go processes simultaneously, each with its own distinct set of arguments and configurations, managed through the .air.toml configuration file or command-line arguments. A key use case is to enable developers…

    3. Dear Air Team, We wasted 6 hours fighting your broken error handling. stoponerror=true stops watching files after build failures. stoponerror=false runs old binaries and hides errors. rerun=true only tries to run the executable, it no longer watches for changes it is stuck…

    4. It seems that the default [build].stoponerror param (if not defined in .air.toml) is set to false? Is there any particular reason for it? I just ended up debugging for 3+ hours where the build seemingly worked ok, until I dug deeper in my verbose output log. Using the "last known…

    5. I have the same issue as but that is now closed. I'm using air v1.61.7, built with go1.23.3.

    7. Currently when sendinterrupt is configured to true (for linux and unix only), the killCmd function sleeps for killdelay before following up with a kill command as well. If the target process honours the initial interrupt, cleans up and exits by itself, there is no need to sleep…

    8. Similar to: I'm not sure why but air -c .air.toml doesn't respect any of the settings within the config file. Notice the bin arg here set to .tmp/WRONG here, I should expect an error but it just runs with the default settings. However, when running inline, for example: air…

    9. Air currently supports 6 config options to include/exclude files: I think from a user perspective, these options are hard to understand and I suggest to support a glob-based configuration with include and exclude options. exclude should take precedence. Above could be rewritten…

    10. The Even Better TOML extension in VS Code validates files against a strict schema, which causes numerous false-positive validation errors because Air's configuration doesn't match the schema's expectations. This creates a frustrating experience where users see hundreds of…

    11. When changes arrive faster than builds finish, two buildRuns can run at once. A superseded build that finishes removes the newest build's token from buildRunCh (its deferred <-e.buildRunCh receives whatever token is there), so the next change can't cancel that build. If two…

    12. When the app is restarting, proxyHandler retries the upstream request every 100ms until appstarttimeout. For requests with a body (POST/PUT/PATCH), every retry after the first one is sent with an already closed body. Once the app is back up, each retry reaches it as a truncated…

    13. When a multipart POST request includes URL query parameters, Air’s proxy replaces the multipart body with the encoded query parameters while retaining the original multipart Content-Type. This causes the application to return: multipart: NextPart: EOF The same request works…

    14. When updating our project's go.mod version to 1.27 and GOTOOLCHAIN=local, the latest air Dockerfile is unable to build the project with the following error: Can we bump the default version to 1.27 in the Dockerfile? Happy to send a PR. Thanks!

    15. buildRun cannot cancel a build that is already running, so build concurrency is unbounded: one additional full go build per debounce window, for as long as the developer keeps saving. On a large project this is enough to exhaust a machine. In our case it reached 45 concurrent go…
