Install Octopi with pacman

  1. Install octopi from the official cachyos repo. pacman checks the package signature before it installs.
    sudo pacman -S octopi

First run

  1. Open Octopi from your app menu, or run it from a terminal.
    octopi
  2. Start the Octopi Notifier to get update notices in your tray.
    octopi-notifier

Key settings

  1. AUR support (the green alien icon on the toolbar) needs an AUR helper. Octopi works with pacaur, paru, pikaur, trizen or yay. paru and yay are both in the cachyos repo.
    sudo pacman -S paru
  2. The package also installs octopi-cachecleaner for the pacman cache and octopi-repoeditor for editing repositories.

Common fixes

The AUR button does not work

Install one of the supported AUR helpers. If none is found, Octopi downloads the latest yay-bin binary from GitHub.

Octopi cannot run pacman commands

It relies on the octphelper helper and the qt-sudo privilege tool. qt-sudo is a dependency of the cachyos package, so reinstalling octopi brings both back.

sudo pacman -S octopi

Uninstall Octopi

  1. Remove octopi and the dependencies nothing else needs.
    sudo pacman -Rns octopi
