How do I install SwayFX on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal:

sudo pacman -S swayfx

swayfx is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing SwayFX?

  1. It installs these commands: sway, swaybar, swaymsg and swaynag.
  2. Run pacman -Qi swayfx to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove SwayFX?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns swayfx

    SwayFX on CachyOS: questions

    Is SwayFX in the official CachyOS repo?

    Yes. The swayfx package is in the cachyos repo, version 0.6-2, built 2026-09-23. Install it with sudo pacman -S swayfx.

    Do I need an AUR helper for SwayFX?

    No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.

    What is the SwayFX command?

    The package installs sway, swaybar, swaymsg and swaynag.
