How do I install OBS Studio on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal, then open OBS Studio from your app menu:

sudo pacman -S obs-studio-browser

obs-studio-browser is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing OBS Studio?

  1. Open OBS Studio from your app menu.
  2. It installs these commands: obs, obs-ffmpeg-mux and obs-nvenc-test.
  3. Run pacman -Qi obs-studio-browser to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove OBS Studio?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns obs-studio-browser

    Is OBS Studio in the official CachyOS repo?

    Yes. The obs-studio-browser package is in the cachyos repo, version 33.0.0-1, built 2026-10-24. Install it with sudo pacman -S obs-studio-browser.

    Do I need an AUR helper for OBS Studio?

    No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.
