How do I install i3lock-color on CachyOS?

Run this in a terminal:

sudo pacman -S i3lock-color

i3lock-color is in the cachyos repo, the CachyOS project's own package repository, so pacman installs it directly with no AUR helper and no build script. The package is signed with the CachyOS repository key, and pacman checks the signature before it installs.

What should I do after installing i3lock-color?

  1. Run i3lock in a terminal.
  2. Run pacman -Qi i3lock-color to see the installed version and the optional dependencies.

How do I update or remove i3lock-color?

Update:

sudo pacman -Syu

Remove:

sudo pacman -Rns i3lock-color

    Is i3lock-color in the official CachyOS repo?

    Yes. The i3lock-color package is in the cachyos repo, version 2.13.c.5-3, built 2024-08-29. Install it with sudo pacman -S i3lock-color.

    Do I need an AUR helper for i3lock-color?

    No. It comes from the cachyos repo, so plain pacman installs and updates it, and sudo pacman -Syu keeps it current.
