    1. I think cosmic-term has a chance to improve on alacritty by implementing a feature that users of alacritty have wanted for a while, which is graphics in the terminal. I think the best and most efficient way to do this would be implementing the kitty graphics protocol:

    2. Support for sixel images would be greatly appreciated as many terminal image viewers and file browsers use it for displaying images.

    3. A drop-down option such as guake, yakuake, or xfce4-terminal is essential. When working with floating windows, this is the best way to interact with the console. You hit a key (generally F12), and it pops, you don't need it anymore? It disappears until you hit the shortcut again.

    4. This protocol is implemented in many terminals including Alacritty, Ghostty, foot, Warp, and iTerm2. It's supported by libraries including Vim, Neovim, and Helix, and shells including Nushell and Fish. See for an explanation of the protocol. The terminal should listen for an…

    5. When I split a terminal window, I more often want to stay in the current path that not. Terminator does this also by default. It would be great to add an option to allow to set PWD to current path after split.

    6. I really love cosmic-term. I think y'all are using a custom renderer, but wow does the text look great compared to my otherwise-normal-daily-driver Alacritty. however, the line height seems a bit high. There are are a number of applications that render graphics or text in a way…

    7. I often have groups of tabs so that I can do different things in the same directory. But if I accidentally close one tab in that group, I need to open another tab to replace that one. Unfortunately, that new tab will be way down at the end of the list of tabs, which might be 7 or…

    9. I don't understand terminal internals quite well enough to try and fully re-summarize. But this is some signal that can be sent from terminal emulators to terminal applications to trigger them to update their appearance in response to the terminal (or likely, system) changing…

    10. Hi everyone. I just update cosmic-term, using apt, and realize that now there is the option of "Keyboard shortcuts". It is great, but I realize a bug. I was trying to configure a shortcut for Next Tab and previous Tab, using PAGEDOWN and PAGEUP, but it is not working. When I…

    11. Would cosmic-term be open to migrating to a different backend then alacritty? Alacritty has self imposed limitations and will not be implementing support for images like sixel/kitty/iterm2. If a migration to something like rio terminal backend would be on the table, this would…

    12. I used to simply drag two fingers up/down on the trackpad to scroll up and down in the terminal output. Now, I notice that instead of scrolling up/down the terminal output outside the window, it rotates through the history of CLI commands I typed, at a difficult to control speed.…

    13. When using a terminal with tabs in a single window, focus events are not sent when switching between tabs. 1. Open a new terminal window, Alt+t to create a second tab 2. In one of the terminals, run printf '\e[?1004h'; cat -v; printf '\e[?1004l'. This enables events and blocks in…

    14. When you press Ctrl+L to clear the console, it not only clears it but also creates a scroll. The more you press it, the longer the scroll gets, and you can even scroll up to see previous prompts. In other terminals like Ghostty or Konsole this don't happen.

    15. An option to place the tabs in the header bar instead of in a separate row beneath it, the way Firefox and Ptyxis do. The tab bar is short, which makes tabs a small target to click and their titles harder to read than the rest of the interface. There is no setting for tab height,…
